Kanispi

Kanispi is the name of the waterfall located at the entrance to Çatak, on the way from Van to Çatak. The word Kanispi means "white spring," and it gets this name because the water has a pure white appearance. Kanispi waterfall is formed by a freshwater spring gushing from inside the mountain and falling down a high cliff. Due to the abundance of water in the spring months, the waterfall is at its most beautiful in May; the water level decreases in the following months. There are picnic areas and restrooms around the waterfall, making it a great place for families to have a picnic. Every year, the Kanispi Festival is held in Çatak during the last week of May. It is a must-visit to swim in its ice-cold waters and to walk up to its source.
