Ancient Turan (Dimitre)

Its current name is Turan, its former name was Dimitre.

We examined this ancient settlement located in the valley just north of the village known today as Turan.

In the 1960s, due to the risk of landslides, the village was moved to its current location, and the ancient settlement in the valley was left to its fate.

With its ruined houses bearing the traces of past experiences, its interconnected underground cities with keystone entrances, and its rock churches, this valley is a cultural treasure.

Stone-paved roads, paths transformed into railway tracks by ox carts, vineyards, the old mosque, and much more await visitors in this ancient settlement.

During our exploration, we discovered three large underground cities, along with numerous rock-cut tombs and church-like structures.

This is a beautiful place, especially suitable for family visits in spring and autumn.
