Cavustepe Castle
It is a Urartian fortress located on the Van-Hakkari highway.
The excavation work is still in its initial stages, and even at this early stage, it is clear that this was a significantly large settlement.
I estimate there are around 20 large silos, covered with earth, storing grain, and they lie buried underground.
The caretaker, Mehmet Kuşman, knows Urartian; he participated in castle excavations in his childhood and learned Urartian out of curiosity.
For those who wish, names and other things are engraved on custom black stones.
New work has begun at the castle; overlooking the Gürpınar plain, it is an excellent archaeological excavation site.
