Çatak

This district, formerly known as Şax, is now part of Van province. Before the Republic era, Çatak was part of Hakkari province. Çatak is located in the south of Van province, and the Norduz River flows through it. There are two Russian-built bridges over the section of the Norduz River within the district. Beekeeping is quite intensive in Çatak. The people earn their living through animal husbandry, beekeeping, and agriculture. Walnut production, in particular, is one of Çatak's characteristic features. A large part of the district is covered with dense forests, and wildlife thrives in these forests. The Kanispi waterfall is also located in Çatak. Currently, a hotel construction is underway in Çatak.
