Chat Forest
Located at the intersection of Kayseri, Sivas, and Yozgat provinces, this forest is predominantly composed of pine trees. I don't know if there's another forest of this size in Central Anatolia, but this one is as vast as the forests of the Black Sea region. With streams flowing through it and adorned with daisies in the spring, it's also possible to encounter wildlife within this forest.
The forest can be reached via the Kayseri – Gemerek – Yeni Çubuk – Sızır -> Çat Village route. Don't forget to visit the Sızır waterfall along the way. The journey is on an asphalt road until Çat Village, but the next 15 km (you should take the road that passes in front of the Ülker market) is on a dirt road. When you reach the area known as Cennet Deresi (Paradise Creek), you will find picnic areas, restrooms, and fountains. Cennet Deresi will accompany you throughout the journey. The scent of pine trees, abundant oxygen, and fresh water can be breathtaking. Located 120 km from Kayseri, the forest is a perfect weekend getaway.
The forested area extends across the Akdağmadeni, Çat Köyü, and Çayıralan regions. Numerous wild animal species, including bears, wolves, squirrels, and wild boars, can be seen in the forest. The area is ideal for photographing flowers in the spring and offers stunning snowscapes in the winter.
