Çamardı and Demirkazık Mountains

Çamardı, a charming district of Niğde, is a perfect place for sightseeing and relaxation, with its sprawling apple orchards, ice-cold streams flowing through it, and the Demirkazık mountain rising nearby. The district is approximately 160 km from Kayseri, but it's possible to reduce the distance to 110 km by using the Orhaniye – Kovalı – Yahyalı – Develi route. It's also worth noting that Çamardı is only 45 km from Pozantı.

Demirkazık Mountain, the symbol of the district, is also known as a popular destination for mountaineers. There is a hotel at the foot of Demirkazık Mountain where mountaineers can camp comfortably. I should also mention that Demirkazık Mountain has very suitable flat areas for camping. Especially in May and June, it is possible to do nature walks extending to Yedigöller, Hacer Forests, and Kapuzbaşı Waterfalls. It is possible to encounter wild animals such as wild goats, wolves, and bears in the region. There is also a memorial tomb at the foot of Demirkazık Mountain, where the graves of mountaineers who died while climbing Demirkazık are located.

While in Çamardı, you absolutely must try the desserts; the region's sweets are exquisite and famous. In particular, this is the birthplace of the "halka tatlı" (ring-shaped pastry), and many pastry chefs from Çamardı run numerous pastry shops in Istanbul.

Let's mention that the trout raised in Çamardı are quite delicious. There are several trout farms in the region; during our trip, we visited Dönmez Trout Facilities, which have earthen ponds. They sell the fish for 2 TL each and have a large facility where you can even have a picnic. You can reach the facility at 0388 724 72 85 – 0542 821 09 48.

There are numerous apple orchards spread over large areas in Çamardı; the apples are firm and sweet, I recommend you try them.

For a picnic, to breathe in the fresh air, and to enjoy delicious desserts and trout, Çamardı is the right place.
