Ayder Plateau
Ayder Plateau is a plateau of indescribable beauty located within the boundaries of Kaçkar Mountains National Park.
We went via Rize; the road is quite nice and paved.
Since it is located within the boundaries of the National Park, a fee is charged per vehicle at the entrance (10 TL / Vehicle – 2014).
The air on the plateau is perfect; your lungs feel like they're going to burst from the oxygen.
The hotel I stayed at was called Oberj, and the hotel itself was a unique experience. You'll understand what I mean better when you look at their website. Oberj apparently means a simple type of lodging place in French.
There are many waterfalls in the region, some of them spectacular, falling from a height of 100 meters.
Following the road upwards from Ayder leads to wonderful plateaus.
The area has relatively little construction and is natural.
There are so many hiking routes and opportunities, you could explore endlessly in a month, and there are guides available.
Unfortunately, the food in this region isn't very good.
You need to set aside at least 3-5 days to fully enjoy the region.
While tourism continues on one hand in the plateau, local life also continues on the other; there was a plateau house next to the hotel where we stayed, and life continued in all its naturalness.
The forests in the region are so dense that the tree population is almost impossible for people to enter.
