Akrus Village

This hamlet, formerly known as Akrus, is located on a high hill in the valley through which the Norduz stream flows, east of the Çatak district. According to the villagers, the Osman Begi tribe used to live here, and still does. The village also has a large plateau. They also say that they used to live alongside Armenians, and that there was once a church and a house built on top of it. The village has many walnut trees. I saw squirrels roaming in the branches. I learned that otters live in Norduz. The main source of livelihood for the village is walnuts, agriculture, and animal husbandry. The village has electricity and telephone service.
