Lake Engir

Engir Lake, a natural protected area, serves as a haven for life in the heart of Kayseri city center thanks to its diverse ecosystem.

The lake ecosystem is home to various animals including pike, turtles, dozens of bird species, snakes, foxes, wild boars, and more.

A shepherd grazing his animals by the lake explained that 20-30 years ago, the lake was twice its current surface area.

The amount of water reaching the lake has decreased, but with a well-planned conservation effort, the lake will return to its former glory.
